Chelsea have introduced the signing of United States nationwide staff defender Naomi Girma on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
The participant was introduced to the followers forward of this afternoon’s Barclays Ladies’s Tremendous League fixture towards Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old centre-back joins Chelsea from American Nationwide Ladies’s Soccer League (NWSL) membership San Diego Wave. It’s understood that The Blues have damaged the world’s switch report to signal the participant.
Girma joined San Diego Wave following the conclusion of her faculty profession. She has made 61 appearances for Wave within the NWSL and has gained the NWSL Sheild and NWSL Problem Cup with the membership.
On the worldwide stage, Girma has been capped by the USA on 44 events by which she has scored two objectives. Girma was a member of the aspect that ended the 2024 Olympic Video games as Gold Medalists.
After becoming a member of Chelsea, Girma mentioned “I’m so glad and actually excited to be right here. It doesn’t really feel actual.
“There are loads of issues about Chelsea that made me need to come right here – the tradition, the profitable mentality, workers and gamers. It’s a high surroundings to be taught and develop in.

Girma is Chelsea’s first signing of the January switch window.
